Fazisi took part in Mackinac race for the second time in 2001. Later that year, Marek Witkowski and Bogdan Stojkowski sailed from Chicago to Fairhaven and further to Fort Lauderdale, Key West on their way to St. Petersburg, FL. Michael and Albert Niedziński purchased 38 ft. Palmer Johnson racing boat „Intention II” formerly well known as the „Love Machine II”.

In March 2001 on the Gdańsk Ratusz, the most prestigious award in polish sailing “Srebrny Sekstant” (Silver Sextant) was given by the editors of “Głosu Wybrzeża” to our Honorary Member – Jurek Wąsowicz, for a voyage around South America. The award was given by Marszałek of the Senate Rzeczypospolitej. This voyage was also honored with the “Conrad” award, “Capehorn Brotherhood,” and “Kolosy”. The Capehorn Brotherhood accepted Jurek Wąsowicz and Kazimierz Potocki into its membership.

September 2001 was a very busy month for the club. Isidore Ryzak took second place among 13 participating crews from the USA, Canada, Germany and Poland at the Żeglarski Tydzień Polonii. Also in September, the Joseph Conrad Yacht Club, was accepted into full membership at the Chicago Yachting Association as its 12th member. In October, our club co-organized the 1st International Shanties Festival in Chicago, IL. The Festival was initiated by the Isidore Ryzak, Commodore of the Polish Yachting Assocation of North America, organized by shanty group Młynn, and directed by Jacek Reschke. The main sponsors of the Festival were Bogdan Stojkowski and Tony Czupryna.

2001 Club race for the Commodore’s Gold Button was won by Leszek Ziolkowski on Fazisi and the winner of the Consul’s Trophy Group I was „Intention II” under brothers Mirek and Wojtek Niedziński, Group II Karolinka under the command of Andrzej Suchodolski. In September 2001 the Polonia Race was reinstituted, and in Group I Marek Bakowski won on „Glass Slipper” and in Group II Roman Chorazy won on „Dove Tail”.

May 2002 „Fazisi” takes second place overall and second in its class in 550 mile race from St. Petersburg FL to Isla Mucheres Mexico. Three maxi-boats participated in this race and all of them finished within 5 minutes.

In 2002, then-Commodore Ciurla participated in „Tydzień Polonii in Giżycko” with other members of the Club, including Isidore Ryzak, who was the main sponsor of the event.
